This corner-site home balances heritage sensitivity with a contemporary vision, designed for a young family returning from years abroad. The planning process was complex, but the result delivers both privacy and amenity while respecting its surroundings.
A batten-and-picket fence signals the home’s modern approach, while the new addition—crafted from glass, brick, and natural zinc—complements the existing heritage fabric and will age gracefully over time. Thoughtful sectional design ensures privacy for neighbors, with the addition subtly set down from the original floor level.
Inside, the reworked heritage frontage becomes a dedicated parents’ wing, while durable, practical materials define the interiors. A sheer curtain encasing the living area introduces a moment of softness, filtering light and lending a quiet sense of retreat.
