Panov Scott – Architect

This multigenerational home is a model for responsive and responsible living, designed to adapt to life’s shifting needs. A long, double-storey dwelling at the rear accommodates the younger generations, while a compact, single-storey residence at the front provides a peaceful retreat for the grandparents.

The plan is inherently flexible—sliding doors and reconfigurable spaces allow the home to shift from two independent dwellings to a single five-bedroom house, or any variation in between. This fluidity fosters resilience, ensuring the house evolves with its occupants.

Built on a lean budget, the structure is timber-framed with minimal steel, resting on efficient screw pile footings. The concrete upstand at the front anchors the cantilever, while the rest of the structure remains lightweight and reversible. Sunlight is carefully choreographed—warming interiors in winter, while retained trees provide shade and habitat year-round. A house designed not just for today, but for generations to come.
